Group Piano Classes
are
for students of various ages and levels of experience.
Participation in these classes gives students
a strong foundation in keyboard technique and
theory, along with the opportunity to make music
at the piano both as part of a group and individually.
Classes
are comprised of from 3 to 6 students who are
grouped according to age. Placement may be determined
by consultation with the Group Piano Class Coordinator.
Sections are available for ages 5 to adult at
various levels of experience.
During
each session students work on pieces at the piano
both solo and with the group. Learning the fundamentals
of a note-reading is supplemented with theory
workbooks. Other activities include rhythmic/clapping
games, ear training, and keyboard exercises. Simple
improvisation and performance round out this unique
program.Students develop their rhythmic and listening
skills to a greater degree when given an opportunity
to perform with others.

The Group Piano
Classroom
The Group Piano Classroom allows for both individual
attention and ensemble performances by using “state
of the art” digital pianos*, headsets, and
a unique control console. Using this technology
the instructor is able to work either with each
student independently, or with any combination
of classmates in order to create group performances.
*Digital Pianos offer a weighted action keyboard
and touch sensitivity that replicates the feel
and response of a piano, along with the ability
to select from hundreds of additional instrument
sounds. For information
on instrument availability.
ALL
GROUP PIANO CLASS students should
have access to either a piano or keyboard for
practicing. Keyboards should be “touch sensitive”
with a minimum of five (5) octaves of full size
keys. An instrument with a weighted action is
preferable.
The
tuition of $20 for each 40 minute class is payable
by the month. There is also an annual registration
fee of $25.
